I remember reading somewhere on trick or tehbored recently (this year) some statements about how a lot of the material in "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" had untrue statements about the things he was going through,
Im almost done reading the first paperback edition of the book from 1966, wondering if you have any basis for your beliefs because I find it interesting and would like to further investigate what you said (i think it was you, lol)
also judging from the memories I have from the movie, things didnt add up either...

The movie's prolly wronger than the book.
Go research his speeches and documentaries from the time. It was "As told to alex haley" ....I've heard from several places that he 'put a spin' on things...

Um, but while reading Perry's work, understand that it has come under attack as flawed and driven by an agenda to diminish Malcolm's stature.
In other words, take it with a chunk of rock salt, as with biographies on most public figures.

oh, I agree. I wasn't implying he shouldn't read it, just to not read it as gospel or superior to Haley's work.

let it be known, that just for the record, I never started reading the book for the soul purpose of knowing who Malcolm was because I know some things are untrue,
it was more of a reason to reflect on my own life,
too see what i can improve in and possible where I may end up,
self reflection basically...
